First Pokemon game named Pokemon Red/Green released way back on 27 February 1996 and for some time now the Pokemon Company have been celebrating that date as Pokemon Day with special in-game events in their Pokemon games. The Pokemon Day has also been officially recognized by the Japan Memorial Day Association and it will be celebrated on 27 February 2020 once again.
Pokemon Company will reveal the full details about Pokemon Day on 27 February but until then, they shared just a small part of the events that will be available in Pokemon Go and Pokemon Sword/Shield. Special Max Raid battles will be hosted in Pokemon Sword Shield on Nintendo Switch while there are also plans for an in-game event for Pokemon Go.
The most exciting announcement, however, is the brand new mythical Pokemon. At the moment, we do not know what the new mythical will be as that will be revealed later in the month. The publisher have hinted that this Pokemon will also appear in the upcoming film Pokemon the Movie: Coco, which is set to release on 10 July 2020.
Detailed information about the celebrations and events will be announced on Pokemon Day.
