The Pokemon Company and Niantic have officially confirmed that Pokemon GO's GO Battle League Season One will finally kick off on 13 March 2020.
The first season of Pokemon GO's competitive league named GO Battle League is set to launch next month, Niantic and The Pokemon Company revealed. The Go Battle League will give players an opportunity to compete against other Trainers around the world in Trainer Battles.
During GO Battle League Season 1, players will compete against similarly ranked competitors through an online matchmaking system. The league is split into three tiers - the Great League, the Ultra League and the Master League.
As you win battles against other trainers, you will climb the rankings. Each new rank will offer an opportunity to earn special rewards. Here is the full schedule for each league format:
- The Great League (1500 CP limit) will run from Friday, 13 March 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Friday, 27 March 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).
- The Ultra League (2500 CP limit) will run from Friday, 27 March 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Friday, 10 April 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).
- The Master League (no CP limit) will run from Friday, 10 April 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Friday, 24 April 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).
- All three leagues will be available from Friday, 24 April 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Friday, 01 May 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).
The launch of the GO Battle League also signals the end of the preseason, which began back in January 2020. Niantic say that based on the results of this preliminary season, the GO battle League will receive a lot of updates and improvements in time for Season 1.
These changes will make wins matter more at early ranks and there are some adjustments to awards such us more Pokemon encounters, avatar items and exclusive avatar pose.
Last but not least, during Season 1, players will have a chance to encounter Legendary and Mythical Pokemon including Altered Forme Giratina, Darkrai and Thundurus.
