Jim Ryan has reassured PlayStation fans that more game announcements are coming very soon. PlayStation CEO also did not rule out new studio acquisitions.
PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has made some questionable decisions over the last couple of months including the removal of PS3 and PS Vita stores, which has been reverted just a couple of days ago, after a massive player backlash.
However, it's safe to say that under Ryan's leadership, PlayStation has got some incredible first-party games as well as third-party deals that brought many exclusive games to the platform. And judging by Ryan's recent comments, it looks like PlayStation will continue to aggressively push such a program, to ensure that PlayStation 5 has more exclusives than any prior console.
In the latest interview with Nikkei , Ryan has reassured PlayStation fans that despite being more quiet than usual, the publisher have been working hard on new games that will be coming to PS5 in the near future.
"We have been quietly, but steadily investing in high-quality games for PlayStation. And we will make sure the PlayStation 5 generation has more exclusive software than ever before," Ryan said.
Interestingly, PlayStation CEO did not rule out new studio acquisitions. Some rumours suggested that Demon's Souls Remake devs Bluepoint games are Sony's next acquisition.
"We have engaged in mergers and acquisitions several times in the past, such as with Insomniac Games. We will not rule out that option in the future," he said.
That's some pretty good news for PlayStation fans, who have been asking for more transparency from Sony in the last months. Hopefully, we'll hear more details and see some footage from these games in June 2021, around E3, when Sony could host another big State of Play show. This is just speculation though, so take it with a dose of scepticism.
