Believe it or not, you can download and play an early build of Dead Island 2 right now. The build is apparently from 2015 but it looks similar to the Gamescom 2014 version of the game, which was shown to the public.
Zombie action game Dead Island 2 has been going through a lot in the last several years. From reports about development hell to switching development studios last year, it is safe to say that many things are not going according to plan for Deep Silver-published franchise.
Despite this, THQ Nordic reiterated a couple of times that the development has not stopped and that the game is pretty much underway. Other than that, nothing has been said about the game but that could change in the upcoming weeks thanks to the latest leak.
Believe it or not, a full, playable build of Dead Island 2 has leaked over at 4chan. The build can be downloaded and it runs at acceptable frame-rate on modern hardware but the lack of optimisation is indeed noticeable as you can see in the video below.
The build reminds a lot of the Gamescom 2014 version of the game, which was shown to the public at that time. At the moment, it is unknown how the build got leaked but we contacted Deep Silver for a comment and will update the article if we hear back from the publisher.
You can find the build here.
