Overwatch fans were getting restless in anticipation of the next Winter Wonderland event and Blizzard have now officially put these questions to rest. Winter Wonderland 2018 will start on 11 December 2018 and will end on 02 January 2019.
Winter Wonderland 2018 will last for three weeks in total, meaning players will have enough time to farm up nine loot boxes from Arcade, on top of those they get from leveling, in order to get a chance at the event-exclusive loot. Unfortunately, due to the nature of loot boxes, no one is guaranteed to get the cosmetics they actually want.
Speaking of which, there is plenty of holiday-season-themed stuff that can be unlocked that was added during Winter Wonderland 2017, but it is currently not exactly known whether Blizzard will add any new skins, sprays, emotes or highlight intros in the 2018 iteration.
The only hints come from BlizzCon shirts that show the Nutcracker skin for Zenyatta may have a Rat King to accompany it soon. Naturally, the only Rat in Overwatch is Junkrat, and the shirt hints at him getting the next Winter Wonderland skin.
What we do know for sure, is that we will be playing Overwatch on a redecorated Blizzard World map that will have festive lights and decorations. On the other hand, it will not be covered in snow, which may bring a dose of sadness to those who like the festivities through and through.
Yeti Hunter is the 5v1 seasonal game mode that will likely happen again, so players will be able to hop in if they feel masochistic enough to play against five Meis. At least Winston gets 5000 hp to partially compensate for the death of brain cells that will ensue in the frozen rage.
Blizzard
It remains to be seen whether the seasonal game mode will be altered in any way or if any new mechanics will be added to keep it fresh. Then again, no one played it for a year, so it may just be fresh enough on its own.
