Opera have officially announced Opera GX, a first browser made specifically for PC gamers' needs. The browser comes with integrated Twitch and lets you control the amount of RAM and CPU it can use. The early access version is available now.
If you ever wanted a web browser, specifically tailored for PC gamers, well, Opera got you covered with their latest app named Opera GX. Announced at E3 2019, Opera GX is described as the first internet browser with gaming-specific features.
One of these features is the integrated Twitch client, which allows you to stay connected to your favourite streamers or check out what's trending on the biggest streaming platform for games. Twitch add-on will also show who is online and send you notifications whenever someone you follow goes live.
Another neat feature is the ability to control RAM and CPU usage. GX Control basically lets you set limits on how much RAM and CPU usage your browser will take up so you don't have to close it once you start gaming.
The browser also has a gaming hub named GX Corner where you can find the best gaming deals and read news about games.
However, the biggest difference from other standard browsers like Chrome, Firefox or Opera is in the customisation. GX browser comes with a ton of different options for creating your own, personalised browser. You can change colours, special effects, themes and wallpapers.
Opera GX also comes with integrated messengers for Facebook, Telegram, Vkontakte and WhatsApp. Unfortunately, Discord is not available, which is a real shame as it's the most used gaming app for chat.
Furthermore, Opera GX comes with a free, built-in ad blocker and free browser VPN. It will also allow you to watch tutorials, walkthroughs, streams or other video content over your games. This particular feature is not available at the moment, but it should arrive pretty soon.
And last but not least, Opera GX supports Google Chrome extensions but it also has its own extensions store.
