As is the case every year, One Special Day event aims to raise funds for gamers' charity SpecialEffect, providing tools and support to gamers with disabilities. The event is scheduled for 28 September 2018, when the companies who take part in the initiative donate a day's revenue from one or all of their games to support this noble cause.
Last year's goal of £400,000 was exceeded thanks to participation by more than 50 gaming companies across the globe, including the likes of Sega, EA, Rovio and Supercell and SpecialEffect is hoping for a similar response this year as well.
This year's goal has been set to £500,000 and with the number of gaming companies supporting the cause growing by the minute, it's likely that the goal will be met with ease. At the time of writing, One Special Day's supporter lists includes just as many industry giants as smaller companies, all of whom's support matters equally.
Ubisoft, Codemasters, Splash Damage, Humble, Rovio, Creative Assembly, Devolver Digital, Telltale Games and EA are but a few of the most prominent names on the list of supporters and we at AltChar are proud to do our part in this truly noble gesture. Whether you're a company or an individual, you can find out how you can get involved with One Special Day .

From its modest beginnings, gaming has grown from a frowned-upon pastime to an industry to be reckoned with, of which I'm personally proud despite being but a passenger, so I cannot overstate the importance of ensuring that the joy of videogames is shared by everyone.
With that in mind, we cordially, personally and professionally invite any and all gaming companies to take part on 28 September 2018 and make the lives of some of our fellow gamers a bit easier. Consider it playing a support class for a day, eh?
