Hello Games initially planned for smaller updates but abandoned the idea in favour of what they call the biggest No Man's Sky update yet. Dubbed No Man's Sky: Beyond, its trailer teases players riding different animals, the Nexus and more.
Of course, it wouldn't be the biggest No Man's Sky update yet if it was just about riding various beasts, even though it does sound like a great idea that opens interesting opportunities.
No Man's Sky: Beyond trailer is in traditional Hello Games cinema style, following a runner through a showcase of features, but we can only speculate as to the function of most of them.
Many of them are hidden in flashes or pass by inconspicuously, but there seem to be some beacons involved, and even some sort of a automatic mining device. We guess that we'll have to wait for more clarification from Hello Games, but Beyond definitely looks the part.
Hello Games' Sean Murray said that the biggest addition in Beyond is the Nexus, which is a shared social space that brings people together, and lets them either play with friends or total strangers.
"Suddenly your ship that you spent 50 hours earning can now be seen by others in the Nexus. Your rare spacesuit and unique helmet can be shown off to other players. Friends and strangers can visit that massive base you've been working on", he wrote.
He stressed that No Man's Sky: Beyond will make the game all the better, since you'll be able to share your progression with other players.
On his personal Twitter account, Murray said that he's thankful to be making games for a living and thanked the community, which has grown into a complete opposite of what it started out as.
"On behalf of myself, and the team at Hello Games I just want to say - Thank you. We are so excited to have made Beyond, and to continue to improve and develop No Man's Sky, because of you, the community who play, explore and share this universe with us. It means so much to us", he wrote on the PS Blog .
No Man's Sky: Beyond launches on 14 August 2019 on all the platforms.
