Many New World players wondered if the game would ever get a proper expansion and now the confirmation is upon us.
New World has previously seen major updates that drew a lot of attention but the fans always hungered for a proper expansion.
With the latest release of a 2023 roadmap , Amazon Game Studios finally confirmed that an actual expansion is coming to the game, at some point during Autumn 2023.
They didn't reveal too many details but it is nice to know the switch to the seasonal model didn't get in the way of producing a singular chunky content drop.
The roadmap noted only a few highlights from the expansion, including:
- New story,
- Mounts system,
- New weapon,
- New expedition,
- Transformation of an existing zone,
- New Heartrune and
- Gear score cap increase
The new weapon is somewhat of a mystery although important details have been revealed earlier. It will be a Focus weapon and the devs confirmed it has nothing to do with the daggers. If the release schedule remains the same in the future and weapons come only once per expansion, we could end up waiting for the daggers for about a year.
Gear score cap increase is somewhat natural for expansions in most MMOs but it remains to be seen whether it will be a source of joy or frustration for New World players due to the grind that comes alongside it.
