SEGA have today officially announced a brand new Sonic Team game, which will be coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch in 2022.
Today, in honour of Sonic the Hedgehog's 30th anniversary, SEGA hosted the first-ever "Sonic Central" live stream event where they announce a plethora of new projects starring Sonic himself.
The announcements include Sonic Colors: Ultimate & Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps, remaster of the beloved 2010 platformer Sonic Colors, Sonic Origins, a new compiled series that includes Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles as well as Sonic CD and a major new instalment in the popular franchise - Sonic Team.
This title has been revealed at the very end of the stream with a short teaser trailer. The game is coming sometime in 2022 and the confirmed platforms include PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
"Get ready to take on a new journey in the next flagship Sonic title from Sonic Team, the team that brought you Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces," it's written in the official announcement.
Sadly that's about everything SEGA revealed about the new Sonic Team game. No gameplay details have been shared but you can perhaps expect to hear more about this project later this year.
The live stream also featured news on Sonic's appearance at the Tokyo 2020 game as well as some mobile game special events. For full details, you can check out the video attached above in the article.
