Anthem live-action short film could be in the works by District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp. The man himself shared a photo of Anthem's Javelin with a description in which he says that more info on the project will be coming soon.

With less than two weeks until the official "mere mortals" release date of EA's looter shooter Anthem, the publisher and developer are doing everything to keep the hype levels as high as possible and attract more players to their new franchise.

While problems in the VIP Demo didn't really do the game any favours, and the recent microtransactions leak causing even more problems, EA are turning to some proper talent for a potential Anthem live-action short.

The man behind the yet unannounced Anthem project is the director of sci-fi films District 9 and Elysium - Neill Blomkamp. He teased the new project by sharing a picture of two Javelins from Anthem. In the caption, Blomkamp wrote that he's "been working on something new" and that he can't wait to "share this soon".

While it's still unclear if Blomkamp's Anthem project is indeed a live-action short, his previous work suggests that this could very well be the case. Blomkamp's Oats Studio shared the same picture with the same caption and with their history of short films, it's not impossible that they will do something similar for Anthem.

The studio previously released ADAM: Episode 3, which is a short film created in Unity engine and published on Steam, while they also created God, Zygote, Rakka and Firebase among others.

Whatever Blomkamp and EA are planning, it won't be long before we get the announcement and release since Anthem is coming pretty soon and a potential live-action short would certainly see the light of the day before the game.

It's also possible that the project is a live-action trailer similar to Metro Exodus' which is pretty neat, to be honest. Maybe guys from EA saw it and thought it would be cool to have something similar for Anthem? Okay, that's more like wishful thinking but you can't deny it would be worth seeing.

Anthem is out on 22 February 2019 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. If you have Origin Access Premier, you can play it a bit earlier. Check out the confusing to find out when.
