TaleWorlds Entertainment announced several upcoming changes and updates for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord and some of the most impactful will be the ranged combat alterations.

Ranged combat will offer more choice in the future when players are selecting their weapon of choice. This will apparently be done by making each weapon more distinctive and not just a generic way to sling arrows or bolts with a different appearance.

At the moment, all the ranged weapons have the same aiming system and even the accuracy and crosshairs are not different from each other. After the update comes through, each weapon will get a different aiming curve so the difference will be visible between different types of bows.

For example, short bows will excel in skirmishes at closer range since their maximum accuracy will happen sooner and wielders will be able to hold them drawn for longer periods of time. Meanwhile, longbows will take longer to get to their maximum accuracy and holding a full draw will be shorter. On the other hand, they will do more damage so if you prefer fewer shots that are more impactful, these will be the preferred option.

While this is only one example TaleWorlds mentioned, all the other ranged weapons will get their own treatment, including crossbows and thrown weapons.

There are several other updates that the team is working on, such as a mini overhaul of horse mechanics. They will be able to sustain permanent injuries or even die in the future. You can check these out on the video above or in the written form on the official Steam post .
