Build a snowman, take part in a snowball fight and earn some special seasonal gear in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne's latest holiday festival, which is now live.

In the spirit of giving and holiday joy, Capcom have something special for all Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players who are looking for a break from the save the New World quest. The Winter Star and Holiday Joy Fests are now live in the base game and Iceborne.

Since holiday sales are a perfect time to get Monster Hunter: World and Iceborne at a discounted price, now is the best time to join the hunt and partake in the Winter Star Fest up at the Astera Gathering Hub. If you're already a Master Rank hunter on Iceborne, the Holiday Joy Fest also awaits you in the Seliana Gathering Hub.

During both festivals, players will get to hunt for some neat exclusive seasonal rewards. A new Snowman item is one of the highlights and it's available only to Iceborne players.  "We’ve taken our brand new snow rendering technology—developed specifically to display the dangerous expanse of the Hoarfrost Reach—and decided to use it… for fun," Capcom say in the announcement post.

Those who log into and partake in the Holiday Joy festivities will automatically get a Snowman. Simply take this item to any hunting locale and build a snowman with face, hat, holiday lights and scarf. The fun begins when you and other players in the quest go up to the snowman to gather some snow.

Once you hit a fellow hunter with enough snowballs, they'll get a silly snowman head of their own. Snowman can be placed wherever you go, you can actually place it even outside snowy areas, including the Volcanic region, which is a bit absurd.

For those who prefer a warmer atmosphere, the Seliana Gathering Hub will be fully decorated during the festival. You can also craft unique event gear and this time the event armour is the Oolong set for hunters and the adorable Shishi-mai costume for Palicoes.

In addition, there are also a few pieces of equipment debuting this seasonal event as well:

  • Mad Scavenger Pickaxe (Long Sword)
  • Duffel Penguin Mask (Headgear)
  • Sealed Dragon Cloth (Headgear)
  • Buff Body (Armour Set)
