When a new turn-based game by Firaxis was announced everyone was hyped until they saw a system that already ruined a racing game but now the devs might actually get rid of it.

Marvel's Midnight Suns is an upcoming video game that should by all accounts be awesome and well-received when it pops up. There was one thing that marred all the hype, however, and it looks like Firaxis might actually drop it.

Card-based skill system dictated that progressing your characters would depend on RNG and not your own skill or choice. On top of that, such a system could be easily exploited for monetisation, not unlike EA's FUT shenanigans.

The latter had already tried to spread it across all their games, including the infamous Need for Speed: Payback. That game bombed so hard that people are, to this day, hesitant to purchase even Heat, which came after Payback and is an actually good NFS title.

It's possible 2K had similar ideas for Midnight Suns with the card-based ability progression but there is a possibility brighter minds won this discussion and according to a new report , the game will have a new trailer on June 9, 2022, where a revamped version of it will be shown.

The report also alleges that "it’s not clear what the “revamping” of the game will be, but it’s likely to address fan concerns about the game’s random game mechanic".

If this turns out to be true, Midnight Suns might end up being the great game Firaxis fans were hoping for.
