Bungie has officially announced that Marathon will release on March 5 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on Steam. Marathon’s release date was recently leaked in a release date trailer that appeared early on the Xbox Community page, however the trailer has now officially been released by Bungie, who have now officially confirmed the date and launched pre-orders on all platforms.
The game has had a very rocky development process but now that it has a confirmed release date there’s a lot to look forward to with Marathon.
In addition to the launch, Bungie says players can expect regular gameplay updates being added to Marathon throughout the year, such as maps, Runner shells, and live events which will be accessible to all players, regardless of edition.
Marathon pre-order editions and pricing
Marathon is available in three different editions, each offering a distinct mix of cosmetic items and bonuses.
Standard Edition ($39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99)

Collector’s Edition
In addition to this, Bungie has revealed that there will be a Collector’s Edition of the game. It can be picked up exclusively from the Bungie Store, and contains no gameplay boosts, instead consisting of physical goodies such as:
- 1/6-scale statue of the Thief Runner Shell
- WEAVEworm miniature
- Embroidered patch
- Postcards
- More digital goodies
Now that pre-orders have officially opened, and the trailer leak has been embraced, Marathon is now in its final stages before release. We’re sure Bungie will provide more information on seasonals and post-launch support as we get closer to March 5.
Marathon DualSense Controller and Headset
Bungie also announced a Marathon-inspired limited edition DualSense controller and Pulse Elite wireless headset, designed with chunky graphics and broken shapes inspired by the landscapes of Marathon.
