İrfan "Armut" Berk Tükek is reportedly being acquired by the very team he beat in Worlds 2020 play-in knockouts, LEC's own MAD Lions.
League of Legends World Championship 2020 featured somewhat of an upset with SuperMassive Esports knocking out MAD Lions during the play-in knockout stage but the latter are now reportedly acquiring the former's top laner, Armut.
It was originally Invade Esports who relayed the news, although there was still some doubt about the possible transfer since neither SUP nor MAD announced or even teased the potential transfer. Not long after, Esporin confirmed the transfer was in the final stages as their own sources apparently relayed similar information.
There are several reasons why the transfer is a rather interesting one but most LoL fans will see it as incredible irony following all the memes about Armut taking Orome's playoff spot which will now undoubtedly be followed by memes about taking his job.
Considering Armut's breakout performance at Worlds, it is really not much of a surprise he is coming to major leagues now and with top lane not being the LEC's strongest suit, his prowess could benefit the entire league.
Following the previous transfers of Closer and Broken Blade to LCS teams, Armut would be the third former member of Royal Youth to make it into a major region, provided the transfer with MAD goes through.
With the cat out of the bag, it is highly likely we will see an official announcement from either one of the teams or the player himself in the next few days.
