GungHo Online and Grasshopper Manufacture have announced that their rogue-like dungeon crawler Let It Die is coming to PC. The game has been a PlayStation 4 exclusive up to this point, and will be so until a PC release in autumn 2018.
Let It Die originally released on PlayStation 4 in 2016, to somewhat mixed reception. Those who liked it made a proper cult classic out of the game and it seems the developers and publisher GungHo Online are looking to expand the cult's size.
The game revolves around potential treasure hunters who attempt to climb megastructure called Barbed Tower in order to find riches and whatnot. The megastructure itself looks like a city that goes up in the sky due to expanding vertically rather than horizontally. While this type of expansion sounds odd, it also fits in the game's odd lore.
In 2026, a cataclysmic tectonic disturbance caused mass destruction around the world and reshaped the way continents look. The Barbed Tower emerged from the ruckus and it is located on an island that came to be after a part of Tokyo got separated from mainland and floated off into the ocean.
Each floor is sort of a dungeon on its own. As I mentioned previously, and as Uncle Death himself explains it, the game is a rogue-like in a way, so you will lose your stuff if you die. It comes with a twist though, as players can ascend floors with the elevator, but will eventually have to face their character on the same spot where they died, in all the gear they had, so technically, they will have to kill themselves once every time they die.
I forgot to introduce Uncle Death though, but it wouldn't be a miracle if he did so himself. It's the fourth wall breaking character in the game, who will make the dungeon crawling in depressive and bleak environments seem a bit brighter with his odd jokes and appearance that resembles the Grim Reaper. There is no solid release date yet, but when the game comes, it will release on .
