Riot have chosen a different approach with the last few champions added to the game, by not making them overpowered to the extreme from the start. Zeri is changing that, though in a subtle way, and mostly in high elo.

Zeri is the newest champion and ADC in League of Legends. Though the place of the newest champion will, hopefully soon, be taken by Renata the Zaunite support, it would appear that Zeri, the Zaunite ADC and mirror champion to the agent Neon from Valorant, needs another nerf to try and balance her out. The nerfs are focused on her base stats, with a change to Zeri's ultimate ability, as stated by RiotAugust on his Twitter profile.

In patch 12.3, the third patch of League of Legends season 12, Riot will nerf Zeri's Movements speed, with her base Movements speed going from 330 to 325.

The upper limit of her Q ability will now be 15 percent max health damage, instead of the previous 20 percent, when fully charged.

The biggest change, however, is to her ultimate. While the Chain Lightning magic damage will deal from 10 to 20 damage with each hit, instead of the 10 to 30 it does now, Zeri's ultimate will also be capable of critical strike.

With this change, Riot are trying to make crit Zeri viable, as her Trinity Force build is too strong, with stats that a new champion has not had in a long time in high elo.
