The first major leak of League of Legends 2026 has arrived, and it’s coming for Cho’Gath. A new report from well-known leaker BigBadBear states Riot Games is cooking up a Demacia-themed Battle Pass skin named Petricite Cho’Gath for Season 1 Act 1.
The reveal comes significantly earlier than usual, so players get an early look at the creative direction Riot plans to go in for the first time in the new year. The thing that makes this leak so particularly intriguing is the thematic choice.
Petricite, the anti-magic stone at the core of Demacia’s power, is at the center of some of the region’s most recognizable champions, from Galio’s massive build to the chains that once bound Sylas.
Rather than the Void’s eldritch cosmic horror, Cho’Gath appears to be reimagined as a gargantuan stone construct carved out of Demacia’s most volatile substance.
Petricite Cho’Gath: A Demacian reinterpretation
In this early look at the skin, BigBadBear describes Cho’Gath’s transformation as a more stiff, chiseled design language that feels like it belongs to Galio’s same design family.
The concept of the Void’s most apex predator standing as a Demacian anti-magic sentry is a shocking revelation, with the leak further revealing that Riot is creating a completely new subfamily of Demacia skins.
In addition to the new skin, the leaker also says to expect other Petricite skins coming as well, which may either come alongside or after the Cho’Gath launch, in what will surely build upon Riot’s effort to have a cohesive theme running through the start of the year.
The leaker had also previously reported that Demacia would be the theme of Season 1 of 2026 with information to expect including:
- A new Demacia champion
- Expanded lore on the region
- A wider variety of thematic skins being launched throughout Act 1
The early part of the year is always when Riot works to continue a big story beat, so a 2026 focus on Demacia makes a lot of sense in the wake of recent events.
Expected release window
As things stand now, Petricite Cho'Gath will likely release alongside the Season 2026 Act 1 Battle Pass. The Battle Pass is typically launched alongside a new Patch (26.01 in this instance), and 26.01 is set to launch at the start of January.
Therefore, it can be expected that this skin will be one of the first major cosmetics of the season.
