Riot Games is making significant changes to League of Legends by removing the Preseason phase in 2024. Let's delve into the details.

Preseason in League of Legends has long served as the testing ground for new changes and adjustments. While the Public Beta Environment (PBE) exists for testing purposes, it often lacks the necessary time and player feedback to fine-tune game changes.

As a result, the game receives a series of frequent patches, usually every two weeks, to maintain freshness and adaptability for players.

Riot Games has announced a substantial transformation of the Preseason phase in 2024. Typically, Preseason changes are introduced in the last one or two patches of the preceding season. However, this approach is set to change. Starting with Patch 14.1 in 2024, gameplay changes for the new season will be rolled out.

A New Beginning with Ranked Split 1

Coincidentally, Patch 14.1 is scheduled to launch on January 9, 2024, the same day that marks the beginning of Ranked Split 1 for the year 2024. Riot's strategy is to implement these changes right at the start of the new Ranked Split.

Testing and Deployment

To ensure a smooth transition and proper testing, the gameplay changes will first be introduced to the Public Beta Environment (PBE) on November 20, 2023. Following an extensive testing period, these alterations will go live on the official servers on January 9, 2024.

Riot's Ambitious Undertaking

Riot's decision to revamp the Preseason system represents a significant challenge in terms of balancing and deployment. Given past experiences, players might approach this change with skepticism.

However, the gaming community will closely monitor Riot's handling of this situation and assess whether the new system can deliver a successful Preseason experience.
