An interesting article on the official League of Legends website has revealed some changes for the upcoming 2022 preseason. There will be some interesting adjustments to the runes, especially the Inspiration tree.
Preseason in League of Legends has always been the time when Riot Games decided to make some larger adjustments to the game. Those changes often include changes to the game's core features like maps, items or the ranked system. The previous preseason has brought the famous item overhaul which had a huge impact on the game. This was one of the largest changes the game has ever seen since items are one of the things that define the game.
In their most recent Preseason Overview article, Riot have revealed that there will be some significant changes to the Inspiration rune tree. The Inspiration tree has always been a bit controversial and it was mostly used for its Unsealed Spellbook Keystone which allows you to manipulate your Summoner Spells. The two others were even more situational.
Glacial Augment was used by some mages like Ahri or Veigar and it allowed them to land their spells much easier thanks to the slow. But, the introduction of the item Everfrost did a very similar job with more efficiency. Prototype: Omnistone has become a forgotten rune, it had some major adjustments but it didn't really find its way to players' build paths.
As mentioned in the article, the Inspiration tree's identity has been unclear and they will try to broaden the scenarios where its Keystones will find good use. The changes will include reworked Inspiration Keystones and secondary rune balance adjustments.
These changes should still be taken with a grain of salt since the Preseason is a couple of months away and it shouldn't come as a surprise if Riot decides to take another path.
