A tweet from Mark Yetter, a Riot Games employee, revealed the balance targets for patch 10.20. Even though there are some expected changes like the Varus buffs, we will also see some unusual adjustments like the nerfs to Katarina and Kled.
League of Legends lead gameplay designer, Mark Yetter, also known as Riot Scruffy has revealed the changes for the upcoming 10.20 patch. This patch will most likely target solo queue only since 10.19 has already been confirmed to be the patch featured on the Worlds stage this year.
Champions that will receive buffs in the next patch include:
- Aatrox
- Illoai
- Sion
- Urgot
- Ryze
- Varus
- Braum
The buffs to Sion and Urgot will target their power in the jungle position. Giving champions bonus damage to monsters is the most common way the balance team deals with such changes.
Braum holds one of the lowest win rates for the jungle position with a little over 47 per cent and he needs a pretty big buff to become reliable in the support role.
Varus is the only ADC that will see some changes and depending on how big the upcoming buffs are, we might see a comeback of the notorious lethality Varus build.
These champions will get nerfed in the next patch:
- Karthus
- Maokai
- Kled
- Nunu
- Kassadin
- Katarina
- Lulu
Ryze currently holds an atrocious win rate for the jungle position with 46.52 per cent and these buffs shouldn't come as a surprise. This buff could've come much earlier but the balance team probably waited until the Worlds patch is out so they can rule out any possibility for this troublesome mage to become meta.
The Kled nerfs are a bit unexpected considering that he holds a 48 per cent win rate for the top lane position. He will probably still be a good choice for team compositions that lack require heavy engage, or against enemies who have healing in their kit.
