The war in Ukraine has shown just how much the world is connected nowadays, with the chain reactions it's causing. One of those is the cancellation of the LCL Spring Split.

The LCL 2022 Spring Season was supposed to be the first split of the LCL's seventh year as a professional League of Legends league. During Spring, eight teams compete in a double round-robin league, with the top five teams continuing to playoffs.

Unfortunately, this will not come to pass, due to the war currently raging in Ukraine. The official League of Legends eSports Twitter account made a statement that, in these difficult times for the region, they find it hard to continue with the league itself.

They go on to explain that, as a consequence of this, CSI will miss the Mid-Season Invitational this year, marking it as another year where the roster will be missing at least one team, due to external circumstances.

Fabian Mallant, the Head Coach of the Unicorns of Love, has expressed his sorrow because of the development of the situation, stating that the team has worked hard to prepare for the competition.

He is not the only one, as we all feel devastated for everyone involved. After months of rigorous preparation, what may have been an opportunity for a new team to step on the world stage is now gone, with no one from the organization to blame, and no action that can be taken to rectify the situation.
