Anthem is developed by BioWare, but it is published by EA. This means a maze of different privileged access options, depending on whether you pre-order the game or subscribe to EA or Origin Access. Here is a quick overview of how to get in.

As per usual, those who subscribe to EA Access or Origin Access will get the first taste of Anthem. In fact, the first gameplay session is just around the corner.

VIP Demo

This demo will kick off on 25 January 2019 and pre-loads are already available. It will last through 27 January 2019 and is available to those who are subscribed to EA Access or Origin Access, regardless of whether it's Basic or Premier. The VIP Demo will be available to anyone pre-ordered the game as well.

Open Demo

Open Demo will be available to everyone, just like the name suggests and it will take place on week after VIP Demo. Kick off date will be 01 February 2019 and it will conclude on 03 February 2019. There is no need to pre-order Anthem or subscribe to anything. If you are looking to test the game out before committing to it, or don't have enough time or patience to wait for reviews, this is the perfect option for a field test.

Anthem Early Access

This one is slightly tricky for Origin Access and EA Access subscribers. If you have the Origin Access Basic subscription on PC or EA Access on Xbox One, you will have access to the full game, but only for 10 hours. Those who subscribe to Origin Access Premier will get the full game with no time limit. Early Access starts on 15 February 2019.

Important notes here are that:

  • PS4 players have no Early Access option
  • Xbox One players can only have 10 hours of Early Access
  • PC players can have Early Access with no time restriction, but only if they subscribe to Origin Access Premier
  • Pre-orders play no part here

Once again, EA are putting even players who pre-ordered into second class here, with a heavy focus on those who subscribe to EA/ Origin Access. One could see this as a simple promotion for their subscription service, but a one could also see this as an attempt to bait players into paying an extra $14,99 / €14,99 / £12,99 for one week of head start.
