Sounds like an alternate universe but PlayStation fans are asking Sony to release Helldivers 2 on Xbox consoles, as they need help from Halo ODST players in a fight against the automatons and terminids.

Helldivers 2 has been a major talking point among the gaming community over the last week or so for various reasons and one of them is the potential Xbox port of the game.

First, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer implied that he would love to see Sony's live service game on Xbox consoles but then, the Helldivers 2 community started talking about how cool it would be to have Halo ODST veterans help them spread democracy and fight against automatons and terminids.

"Xbox division fought the covenant, it's time we tag them in," one PlayStation fan wrote.  "I'm on PlayStation and I think Helldivers 2 should be on Xbox," other fan added.

More PlayStation and Xbox fans chimed in, discussing various topics and how Helldivers 2 could even add a Halo ODST crossover with various skins and other items from the beloved Xbox game.

We even got a full-fledged fan-made trailer which mixes Helldivers 2 gameplay and Halo ODST videos, hyping up the potential crossover and release on Xbox consoles.

It's certainly a rare occurrence that a first-part game from either Xbox or PlayStation has such an impact on the community. We'd argue that it's the game's concept of fighting together to save the Earth against the threat of scary bugs and robots is what makes Helldivers 2 so popular.

Also, the fact that the game does not have PvP makes it much less prone to the awful toxicity that is present in various other shooters like Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty and others.

At the moment, it seems unlikely that Helldivers 2 will come to more platforms but never say never, especially now that Sony are seeing the impact of day-and-date releases on PC. Who knows, perhaps sometime in the near future, console exclusives start becoming less frequent, given that costs of video game development are skyrocketing and every bit of potential revenue becomes important to both Sony and Xbox.
