This Wintersday, The Reborn Monk and the biggest Alliance in the game are giving away 3,000 ectos (Globs of Ectoplasm, rare crafting material) over on the GWReborn YouTube channel and on LGiT's Discord . The price of Globs of Ectoplasm has been all over the place over the last year but it recently settled around the 15 platinum mark (an ecto costs 13k at the time of writing).
Globs of Ectoplasm are an almost universal currency in the original Guild Wars game as players can only walk around with 100 platinum (100,000 gold) in their character inventories, and storage chests in the game can only hold 1,000 platinum overall. You can now imagine how much ectos can come in handy when you're trying to complete a major purchase.
On top of its market value in commerce, Glob of Ectoplasm is a likely candidate for the most expensive crafting material if you wish to deck out your characters in Obsidian armour. The "cheapest" Obsidian armours one can craft in Guild Wars are the get-ups for five out of six core professions at 105 ectos. Dressing up a Warrior in the coveted suit will take 120 ectos, and the same price goes for all professions added in Factions and Nightfall. Guild Wars: Eye of the North added Chaos Gloves that, among other things, take 75 ectos to craft.
