New World finally got the group finder but the tool failed to impress. However, the devs are not giving up and are working on new features for it.
Group finder tools are pretty important in modern-day MMOs, although an argument could be made that they are counterproductive for player interaction.
That said, New World players have been waiting for this tool for a long time and when it finally arrived, it was pretty lacklustre. It didn't have the necessary filters and navigating the menu was pretty clunky.
For example, some of the most common criticisms are the lack of ability to organise group view by mutations to help with sorting.
Thankfully, AGS seem to be well aware of the feedback as they announced they are focusing on fixing this issue first as the 1.1 version of group finder is meant to provide a consolidated screen that would show all lobbies in a single menu with sorting and filtering enabled. That way, the players wouldn't have to wade through a ton of clunky menus while trying to find a group for endgame content.
Additionally, players were hoping for group finder features outside of expeditions and while this is not as high on the priority list as the aforementioned sorting, the devs are planning to release something along these lines in v2.0.
There is currently no release window for version 2.0 but when it arrives, players should be able to find and advertise groups for content other than expeditions, with more details coming in the future.
