Genshin Impact update 2.0 will be the largest update the game has seen since its release. A couple of recent leaks have apparently revealed the release date of the new patch, and it's closer than we think.
Genshin Impact has taken the gaming industry by storm over the last ten months, but the recent updates didn't receive much love from the community. A significant increase of banner re-runs and simple festival events has led many players to ask the question - when will the filler updates end?
The game's developer, miHoYo has already made the statement that they were somewhat surprised by the game's popularity which arrived all of a sudden.
However, with all the leaks flying around over the last couple of weeks, it seems like they have picked up the pace and we could be heading towards the biggest update the game has seen so far.
According to one of the most credible Genshin Impact leakers, Sakuna , the release date of update 2.0 is set for July 9. A recent leak posted on the popular Wangsheng Funeral Parlor discord channel has confirmed the same date. They've also mentioned that the video announcement will be around one hour long which will be an absolute record.
A couple of weeks ago, a post made on the same Discord channel revealed that we're going to see five new characters in update 2.0 - Ayaka, Yoimiya, Sayu, the main character (electro) and another four-star character whose name didn't come up but players are hoping it's the Pyro user Tohma.
Ayaka is one of the fan-favourites and probably the most anticipated character in the entire community. She was part of the game's beta phase. Ayaka is a Cryo sword user and she could be one of the strongest DPS characters in the game. Yoimiya could be described as a significantly stronger version of one of the starter characters - Amber.
