SEGA kicked off a catalogue-wide sale on Steam which includes several Sonic games, with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 going around as a free to keep title for a limited time.

Fans can pick up Sonic the Hedgehog 2 from Steam at no cost until October 19, 2020. This leaves you with just under 10 days from the time of writing to click the magic button on the game's store page .

If you are not entirely familiar with the Sonic franchise, this particular game is one of the most beloved in the series, meaning you pretty much have no reason not to grab it for free unless you hate platformer adventures with a passion. Even then, it's worth giving StH 2 a shot.

Tails will be assisting Sonic in this one as they set out to defeat Dr Eggman, also known as Dr Robotnik, who is turning animals into robots to work on a doomsday weapon. This pitch sounds as much as a '90s cartoon can, which is also a great thing if you're looking for a nostalgia injection.

The giveaway is not the only part of the promotion. SEGA put up a bunch of games on sale, in celebration of the company's 60th birthday, including Total War: Warhammer II which is a massively successful game from its own franchise. It also has a free weekend that will end on Monday, October 13, 2020, so you can give it a try before deciding whether to purchase or not. The discount itself lasts until October 19.
