Even though PUBG has been stealing its headlines, Epic's Fortnite has been lurking in the shadows and steadily growing. In the wake of their recent server issues, the company pointed the finger at a jaw dropping figure of 3.4 million concurrent players, which - if true, would put it firmly on top, ahead of PUBG.
The Fortnite team published a lengthy post, explaining in great detail what exactly went wrong and if you're server tech savvy, you'll enjoy the read . As usual, the company highlighted its dedication to proper service for its users and did what Epic seems to do best - find people who can get the job done.
It appears, however, that the scope of the problem indeed caught the company off guard, prompting them to issue a call for help to anyone who has expertise in this field. The team refrained from giving impossible promises, but rather resorted to quoting Futurama, saying: "When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."

Unfortunately, there's a catch here - PUBG figures you see floating around can be freely found online and since they are primarily PC numbers, a quick Steam check is a few clicks away. Additionally, with Xbox users going crazy over the 30fps of PUB “goodness”, we're somehow confident it would still drive PUBG figures beyond Fortnite's reach.
Fortnite's team on the other hand provided neither further information nor a breakdown of PC and console numbers, so we basically have to take their word for it. However, faith is not something we dabble in and most certainly isn’t something we’d invoke before declaring an industry leader, so we’d rather wait until the playing field is levelled before we start switching around crowns.
