Tencent have posted the picture shown above to their Twitter and stated they are indeed talking about Fortnite. According to the calendar on the picture, the game should release in China on 24 July 2018 but a platform is yet unspecifed.
Some players are arguing that Fortnite will kick off in China on Android first but Tencent have already teased the imminent release of Fortnite on their platform WeGame, which is Steam's Chinese equivalent.
Tencent's didn't offer much information other than the apparent release date and confirmation they're talking about Fortnite. Some fans were quick to conclude that it's coming to mobile devices first as there is no Google Play Store in China so Tencent will have to handle distribution, but almost the same goes for the game's PC version.
On the other hand, the PC version was announced months ago when Epic Games invested $15 / ~£11.3 million, part of which is meant to start building Fortnite's esport scene in China. If this happens, it will also mean that Chinese players will have their own exclusive servers, which will likely help Epic Games avoid the issues PUBG had with region block requests due to rampant hackers.
Meanwhile, there is no mention of either a Chinese or Android version of Fortnite releasing on Fortnite's official Twitter. The main topic here remains the end of Season 4 and the beginning of Season 5 which should happen on 12 July 2018.
Another hint that the announced Fortnite won't be an Android version is that there was no testing phase of any kind recently, while iOS Fortnite had one before it got launched. On top of it, the Android version is likely to land in areas outside of China first, as it was already announced for summer 2018.
Epic Games
If Chinese players get PC Fortnite on 24 July 2018, they will also be in time to hop into Battle Pass train for Season 5. Granted, they will get it 12 days late, but it shouldn't be too hard to work out a pricing or season extension compromise for Epic Games, as they've done so with Season 4 just last week as well.
