League of Legends - Fnatic is going to have a hard time playing their first match

League of Legends European Championship (LEC) giants, Fnatic, have had some roster issues recently due to a player and a coach contracting Covid-19.

Spring Split was not exactly a bad one for Fnatic overall since the organisation is known to have weaker performances in the first half of each competitive year but the poor form in the closing week heralded something that could be wrong in their ranks.

As it stands, Covid-19 may or may not have interfered with Fnatic's inner workings but the confirmed part is that two people within the LoL team have contracted the virus. The official announcement, seen below, doesn't mention the names explicitly but DotEsports managed to confirm it was Hylissang and Tolki.

Considering one is a crucial player and the support that always dances on the fine line between inting and making mind-blowing plays and the other is assistant coach, it would be fair to say any disturbance to their health would have major ramifications on the team's performance.

According to the announcement, Hylissang and Tolki tested positive "last week", meaning the week starting on Monday, March 8, 2021, the same week where they lost three games in a row and risked missing playoffs.

In the end, they finished fifth but it was Team Vitality who bailed Fnatic by beating Misfits, who were at the cusp of earning playoffs for themselves.

There are just under two weeks to go before playoffs start on March 26, 2021, and it remains to be seen if the team will get into the form that could maybe earn them a spot at MSI 2021. More importantly, let's hope Hylissang and Tolki get well without any lasting consequences.
