Far Cry New Dawn's light RPG mechanics will allow players to craft certain weapons which will have ranks. Along with that, enemies are also ranked and Ubisoft introduced a new home base which can be upgraded with various resources.
In Ubisoft's latest Q&A developer video, Far Cry New Dawn's creative director Jean-Sebastien Decant explained the new "light RPG" mechanics which will feature in the upcoming shooter.
Far Cry New Dawn will allow players to craft various weapons which will have four ranks, judging by the presented footage. "We pushed what we call the light RPG approach in the game to create more depth, so you'll be able to craft guns that have ranks," Decant explained.
There are also some requirements for crafting and one of them is Prosperity Level 3 which is probably tied to the Prosperity Home Base level.
Building up your home base of Prosperity will be the key to progress in Far Cry New Dawn. Players will be able to bring in NPCs to their base, improve resources and upgrade the settlement. The base itself is supposed to become livelier as the game progresses.

Enemies will also have ranks which should impact Far Cry's combat. For example, it could mean that one shot headshots will not work on higher level enemies which is similar to combat in Assassin's Creed where it's impossible to one-shot high-level commanders.
Of course, this is just an assumption and Ubisoft didn't officially confirm how the ranking system will actually work, but Decant did mention that weapon ranks will be "useful to fight against enemies that also have ranks".
Decant also on the escalation system which will introduce a major change for outposts. Players will get the chance to outright occupy an outpost and its resources or "squeeze it" which will provide a large sum instantly, but allow enemies to retake location. Once enemies regain control, resources will become more plentiful, but this bonus will come at the cost of having to fight through more formidable defenses.
Ubisoft want to give players a choice of re-liberating the outposts for higher rewards or playing the long-game and investing in them instead.
