Battlestate Games has released Patch 0.16.7.0 for Escape from Tarkov, focusing on technical improvements, audio system upgrades, and player-requested quality-of-life features. The update is live as of June 23, 2025.

Developer Battlestate Games have released a new major patch for their popular extraction shooter Escape From Tarkov. The changes in the patch are based on the player feedback that the devs collected on the official forums and include a wide range of improvements and fixes.

The patch 0.16.7.0 seems to be quite substantial. While it doesn't introduce new content or mechanics, it aims to significantly improve the core experience, especially in terms of sound design, AI consistency, and quality-of-life systems.

The highlight of the patch is a comprehensive rework of the game’s sound engine. Several subsystems have been updated to make the game’s audio more realistic and immersive.

  • The obstacle-checking system between listeners and sound sources has been refined.
  • Sound propagation has been improved through walls, staircases, and between building floors.
  • Occlusion effects for windows and doors have been reworked.
  • Volume of bush rustling reduced in both first- and third-person views.
  • Issues with incorrectly processed or muffled sounds have been addressed.
  • Voice alerts in The Lab have been fixed.
  • Overall audio occlusion detail has been enhanced across multiple locations.

Battlestate Games say that the audio system is still under development, and further refinements are expected in future updates.

AI Fixes and Behaviour Adjustments

Tarkov’s AI systems for both PvP and PvE have also received significant attention:

  • Bots no longer spawn inside terrain or float mid-air.
  • Bot stair and slope navigation has been corrected.
  • PMC bots now avoid boss spawn zones and are less likely to engage bosses.
  • Bots now behave more realistically in how they handle weapons and navigate environments.
  • Rogue boss spawn issues in PvE have been resolved.
  • Friendly behaviour between PMC bots and boss guards has been fixed.
  • While AI difficulty hasn’t increased, these fixes are aimed at making engagements feel more grounded and predictable.
