The download size of From Software's upcoming action RPG Elden Ring will be around 44 GBs on the PS5, without the day-one patch. The pre-load will start on February 23, 2022.
We finally have the first information about Elden Ring download size and pre-load start date on the PlayStation platform. According to the PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, Elden Ring will weigh in at 44.472 GB on the PlayStation 5.
As for the pre-load date, it is currently set for February 23, which is two days before the official launch on February 25, 2022. Both the download size and the pre-load date seem pretty reasonable but it is worth mentioning that this will be From Software's biggest ever game in terms of download size, and by quite a margin.
For comparison, Sekiro download size was "only" 25 GBs at launch which is significantly lower than the reported Elden Ring download size.
Of course, the difference in size is not surprising at all - Elden Ring is a much much bigger game than Sekiro and it features a vast open-world, which is a first for From Software games.
Also, keep in mind that the download size shared by PlayStation File Size is not official. This is data found in the PlayStation Store and is subject to change so until we get the official info from the developers, don't take it as a certainty.
Elden Ring is officially launching on February 25, 2022, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
