Mortal Kombat 11 director Ed Boon took to Twitter to ask players if they would want to see Shaggy from Scooby Doo in NetherRealm Studios' brutal fighter. Boon teased the fans by saying they should discuss and consider this option.
A couple of months ago, when Mortal Kombat 11's release was inching closer, Scooby Doo goofball Shaggy become a big internet meme where he was described as a powerful superhuman. And of course, once the Internet starts something, it's almost certain that it's going to end up in some weird places.
With Mortal Kombat 11 coming quickly at that time, some players thought it would be nice to have Shaggy take on Scorpion, Raiden, Lui Kang and the rest of the gang. A petition was started on Change.org, and at the time of writing, more than 375k people have signed it.
NetherRealm confirmed that there is no way Shaggy would ever appear in a Mortal Kombat game but that didn't stop the game director Ed Boon to continue teasing Mortal Kombat 11 fans on Twitter.
In his latest tweet, Ed Boon replied to YouTuber Boogie2988 who asked him if Shaggy could arrive to Mortal Kombat 11. "Oh wow, that's an idea. Maybe we should consider and discuss this? Do people want this? Hmmmm?," Boon wrote in his tweet.
To us, this clearly looks like a joke but who knows, maybe Boon changes his mind if enough players demand it - it's not entirely impossible that Shaggy makes an appearance in Mortal Kombat 11 despite earlier comments from NetherRealm.
Many players still hope that Shaggy will arrive to Mortal Kombat 11 at some point for one simple reason - the publisher of the game, Warner Bros. also owns the Scooby Doo franchise which would make the introduction of Shaggy a pretty simple move for them.
