It turns out that EA fans who play on Xbox have to wait a bit more for EA Play on Xbox Game Pass, as Microsoft announced that we're now looking at 2021.
"When we originally set out to write this blog post, which would announce the availability of EA Play on PC with Xbox Game Pass, it looked a little bit different. Unfortunately, what had been a celebratory post is now one asking for a little more patience: We made the decision to delay until 2021 the release of EA Play on PC as part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate memberships", Microsoft said.
Team Xbox said they struck a partnership with EA because they're equally as passionate about games, but that they need more time to make it a reality.
Unfortunately, there's no exact date given, but knowing Microsoft - they'll be looking to tie it down as soon as possible. They promised they'll have more info "early next year" so at least we'll know for sure early on.
While it's certainly unfortunate that EA Play won't be arriving before 2021, this is not the time to be rushing anything, as Cyberpunk 2077 clearly demonstrated.
There's always a silver lining, which in this case is the companies' agreement, which Microsoft said is not a short-term one.
Xbox's' general manager of marketing Aaron Greenberg said, "While we're not going to say never, never, but this is not something that's just a short period of time. So this is a significant addition, and this is going to remain in the service for quite a while".
So, there you have it, when it comes - it'll stick around for a while, but as of today, we're talking about a 2021 launch.
