Vanguard playlist is getting a bit more of an overhaul in the coming expansion as Destiny 2 players will get to experience more variety.
Bungie previously announced that Vanguard Strikes would be enriched by adding the Battlegrounds from Season 13 to the mix in the future. That decision is coming to pass when Destiny 2 : The Witch Queen releases on February 22, 2022.
In total, there are four Battlegrounds that will become available in the Vanguard playlist:
- Behemoth (Nessus)
- Oracle (Nessus)
- Hailstone (Europa)
- Foothold (Cosmodrome)
Furthermore, Strikes will be renamed when the changes happen and they will now be called Vanguard Ops. In a way, this makes sense because, in regards to lore, the fireteams do essentially perform operations for the Vanguard through the playlist. Changing the name so far in the game's life cycle, however, will sow even more confusion in what is already a convoluted game. Newcomers will have an even harder time catching up with what's happening in the universe.
Anyway, changing the name will be reflected in all challenges, quests, triumphs and bounties so their text will properly reference an existing activity, rather than a legacy one.
Overall, the change should be a good thing for F2P players as well as those who didn't purchase the content when it was launched with Season of the Chosen.
