Deathbound, one of the more promising soulslikes on the horizon is showing off some flashy combat with a bit of an unexpected twist.

Soulslikes are generally trying to differentiate themselves from the famous series by FromSoftware and sometimes the gimmicks that are supposed to set them apart are not that influential.

It appears that Trialforge Studio didn't want to risk this happening with Deathbound so they went all in with their spin on the genre - by letting the players use multiple builds simultaneously.

This concept sounds scarier than it is though.

Deathbound features multiple fallen warriors that the protagonist can "possess" and then utilise in combat. This concept was already present in Mortal Shell but this time around it is a little bit different.

As the gameplay trailer below showcases, you can utilise multiple warriors in the same encounter. Therone is a heavy hitting melee character, Agharos hits even harder with his hammer and Olivia can call lightning storms to attack the enemies.

Players can use each one of them separately but they can also combine the characters' powers with a mechanic called Morphstrike. It basically executes the combined powers of all absorbed fallen which can turn the tide of battle and win the ones that seem all but lost.

Deathbound is aiming for a 2024 release and you can already wishlist it on Steam.
