Even though review scores and overall reception from players and critics are probably not as positive as Bend Studio expected, their zombie survival action adventure is still topping the sales charts and even breaking some big records in its launch week.
According to UKIE/GfK data, Bend Studio's creation is officially the biggest selling physical launch of the year so far in the UK. For a new IP, this is certainly an impressive result and when compared to another PlayStation 4 exclusive, iconic and beloved God of War, which released last year, the numbers look even better. Days Gone sales are only 27 per cent lower than God of War, which was one of the most anticipated PlayStation 4 games ever since the console launched six years ago.
To take the first spot, Days Gone beat some of the 2019's biggest heavy hitters including Capcom's remake of classic survival horror Resident Evil 2, Ubisoft's The Division 2 and Far Cry New Dawn.
The biggest threat to Days Gone was NetherRealm Studio's brutal fighter Mortal Kombat 11 but ultimately, Deacon St. John's adventure took the first spot. Of course, it's worth noting that these numbers do not represent the digital sales, which grew significantly in the last couple of years and would probably alter the list if they were included.
It will be interesting to see if Days Gone's strong physical sales continue in the second week given that the review scores are a bit lower than expected as we already mentioned. Holding the top spot of UK physical sales should be an easy job though, as game releases in May 2019 are pretty scarce. Bethesda's Rage 2 is the only major release in the upcoming month.

In other Days Gone news, another batch of bug fixes and stability improvements has dropped in the latest 1.05 patch. You can check more about that here.
