Bend Studio will look to expand Days Gone universe and explore "many, many different avenues". According to studio director Chris Reese, this is something that the devs always wanted to do.
SIE Bend Studio's zombie action-adventure title Days Gone has been a real success for both the developers and the publisher Sony. Deacon St. John's story is the best selling title on PlayStation 4, beating even the much-anticipated action title from Hideo Kojima - Death Stranding .
And while the game received overall mixed reviews, it seems that players quite enjoyed it. Days Gone's user score on Metacritic currently sits at 8.0 out of 10, with players praising the game's story, open-world and visuals.
Those who enjoyed and still enjoy the harsh world of Days Gone will be happy to hear that SIE Bend Studio have big plans for the future of the franchise. According to Bend Studio director Chris Reese, Days Gone universe is a passion of the devs and it's something that they will look to explore a lot in the future.
"Oh yeah, it is certainly a passion of ours, and that's what we've always wanted to do. This is a world that we want to keep breathing more life into, and explore many, many different avenues. So who knows, we'll see!" Reese said after Days Gone won The Golden Joystick's PlayStation Game of the Year for 2019.
Of course, this is far from an official confirmation that the studio are indeed working on a new Days Gone title, but it's nice to hear that more Days Gone content will certainly be heading our way in the future.
Earlier this month, a resume update from one of the employees of Bend Studio indicated that the team has recently started with pre-production on a new game. This means that Days Gone 2 won't launch in the near future but could be coming to PlayStation 5 in a couple of years. Our guess for the release date would be late 2021 or early 2022.
