Darkhaven is a new action RPG title that has been officially announced for PC. Developed by Moon Beast Productions, Darkhaven‘s team consists of veterans who previously worked at Blizzard Entertainment and contributed to games like Diablo and Diablo II.
There is no release date for Darkhaven yet, but Moon Beast Productions has stated that it will crowdfund the project via Kickstarter and more information will be provided in the near future.
A Dark Fantasy World Built on Classic ARPG Foundations
Moon Beast Productions has stated that Darkhaven is an isometric action RPG set in a dark fantasy world. They intend to build upon the great aspects of ARPGs from years past, while updating the gameplay with new mechanics and technology.
They’ve also gone on to describe Darkhaven as a game that revolves around a “persistent, fully dynamic world.” Here’s what we know about Darkhaven so far:
- Players can expect procedural generation and an open world that encourages players to explore
- Expect environments you can destroy
- A living world that remembers what you’ve done
- Solo or multiplayer gameplay
- Strategic combat with positioning, tactics, and unique builds
- Unique items that players can obtain to power up their characters
Crowdfunding and Future Updates
Moon Beast Productions plans to fund Darkhaven through Kickstarter. While there’s no word on when the Kickstarter will launch, Moon Beast Productions says that they plan on listening to fans and what they have to say as they progress.
They understand that since Darkhaven will focus on creating a massive and complex world with a high replay value, fans will definitely have some input on how they want the game to play.
Only time will tell just how Darkhaven plans to improve and modernize the foundation that classics like Diablo and Diablo II built.
