From Software had to shut down Dark Souls PC servers due to a major exploit. But when will the online services go live again?

Dark Souls PC server status on Friday, October 25, 2022:

  • Dark Souls - OFFLINE (Shut down permanently)
  • Dark Souls Remastered - OFFLINE (Working on a fix)
  • Dark Souls 2 - OFFLINE (Working on a fix)
  • Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin - ONLINE
  • Dark Souls 3 - ONLINE

From Software have successfully fixed the exploit in Dark Souls 3, therefore the game's online features are now once again available. The team also managed to fix Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin PC servers but are still working on other games.

Dark Souls servers will remain offline for the foreseeable future as From Software are still working on the patch that would fix a major exploit that was discovered recently in the popular action RPG series.

Here is the latest update from developer From Software regarding the Dark Souls exploits and online services status:

"Due to the time required to set up a proper testing environment, online services for the Dark Souls series on PC will not resume until after the release of Elden Ring. We will continue to do everything we can to bring back these services as soon as possible."

The exploit that was discovered last month basically allows the potential invader in Dark Souls to execute arbitrary code on a remote PC, which allows them to take control of the host's computer. Quite scary.

Dark Souls streamers and Redditors have started reporting the issue to Bandai Namco and From Software shortly after this was discovered. From Software confirmed that they are aware of the issue and will be temporarily shutting down PvP servers for Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls: Remastered as they investigate and try to fix the issue.
