CD Projekt Red’s Alvin Liu has talked about difficulty levels in Cyberpunk 2077 in his latest interview. Liu said that the game will feature a hardcore mode that will lose the UI completely and also change some other gameplay features.
The latest bit of info comes from CD Projekt Red’s UI Director Alvin Liu who revealed interesting details about the difficulty levels that will be available in Cyberpunk 2077. When asked if Cyberpunk 2077 will follow The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt when it comes to various difficulty levels, Liu said that this will, of course, be the case and added that a hardcore mode will also be included.
He then shared some details about the hardcore mode that will remove the UI and also change some other gameplay features, but unfortunately, Liu did not mention what these features are.
"The most fun one I think will be the Hardcore setting where we turn off the UI you live as well. And that will be a real challenge for a lot of players," Liu said.
Since the UI in Cyberpunk 2077 is a pretty big feature, especially with all the subtitles popping up as you walk through the streets packed with NPCs, it will be interesting to see just how hard it will be to navigate through multiple vertical layers of Night City.
Additionally, Liu also mentioned that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a game for both hardcore and casual players. Apparently, CD Projekt Red added various weapons for players who don't have experience with shooter games. One of these weapons can be seen in the first gameplay trailer.
"We want to tell a story and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that. We even have weapons for that. If you recall from last year’s demo, we had a weapon called the smart gun, which helps you aim," Liu explained.
