CD Projekt Red's blockbuster RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is jam-packed with awesome easter eggs and it seems someone at the studio is a big fan of GTA San Andreas' Wrong Side of the Tracks mission.
Cyberpunk 2077's NIght City is one of the greatest cities you'll ever experience in video games with plenty of interesting locations to discover. As expected, the world is also jam-packed with easter eggs and some of them pay homage to great sci-fi films like Blade Runner (1982) but also other popular video games.
One of these popular video games is Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, which released way back in 2004. If you are a bit older, you probably remember this masterpiece and its main protagonist named CJ. If you are one of those players who enjoyed GTA San Andreas, you are aware of a certain mission, where CJ and Big Smoke have to eliminate the members of a rival gang who are trying to escape by a train.
As a player, all you have to do is follow the train on a motorbike while Big Smoke tries to take the gang members down. This is probably one of the most memorable missions in the entire franchise with an even more memorable line: "All we had to do, was follow the damn train, CJ!"
Now, here's how these fellas are connected to Cyberpunk 2077. In one of the locations in Night City, you can find two dead characters along with a totalled motorbike. Characters are named JC and Little Smoke, which is an obvious reference to CJ and Big Smoke of GTA San Andreas.
There's even a shard with a full conversation that you can loot. Check it out below.
Pretty cool, right? It's always nice to stumble upon these things and see the appreciation for older, iconic games that many gamers but also developers played and loved. We'll keep an eye out for more cool easter eggs as we play Cyberpunk 2077. Who knows what else is hidden in the alleys of Night City.
