A brand new Tomb Raider game is currently in development, according to franchise game director Will Kerslake, who revealed that this project will connect the ideas of the original games with the latest reboot trilogy.
The modern Tomb Raider trilogy was off to a great start with the first two games but sadly, the latest instalment - Shadow of the Tomb Raider - did not manage to reach the critical acclaim of its predecessors. Of course, that does not mean that the trilogy finale is a bad game, it's just that players expected more from the game.
Despite this, the rebooted trilogy was a major success for the developer Crystal Dynamics and it's not surprising to hear that they are currently working on a brand new Tomb Raider game. However, the game will not be announced anytime soon, since it's probably in very early development.
The Tomb Raider franchise game director, Will Kerslake revealed in the latest video over on Twitter that this new project will try to connect the modern, Origin trilogy, with the classic games. "We've envisioned the future of Tomb Raider unfolding after these established adventures, telling stories that build upon the core design of Crystal Dynamics games, working to unify these timelines," Kerslake said.
As we mentioned above, the game won't be coming in the near future and Crystal Dynamics won't have any major announcements to share for quite some time. "We ask for your patience while we go through the development process, we don't have plans for major game announcements in the near future," Kerslake concluded.
