The release of a new champion is probably one of the most exciting events in the League of Legends world. Riot's recent article may have hinted at a new jungler who perfectly fits the description of the legendary Ruined King.
In their latest Champion Roadmap article , Riot Games hinted at a new skirmisher jungler "who will be twisting hearts and possessing minds early next year". There are many theories on who this new champion might be but the most trustworthy one is that it's in fact the fan-favorite Ruined King.
Out of all the League of Legends lore characters, the Ruined King is probably one of the most popular ones that haven't become a champion yet. With the last year's introduction of Senna and her story, many fans started to think that the Ruined King could finally join the champion roster.
The short poem-like text in the part where they announced the new jungler talks is very reminiscent of the Ruined King's lore. The first sentence " What would you do for love?" is probably about the King's love for his Queen who was poisoned to death. According to the lore, he then visits the Blessed Isles, which later turn into the Shadow Isles, in order to use the place's powers to resurrect his beloved queen.
After his attempt turned out disastrous, he gave up his life to join his queen in the afterlife. The two following lines, "Would you give up everything you have?" and "Would you go to the brink of life and death?", are probably talking about that exact sacrifice.
In the article, Riot stated that they are bringing some new lore champions to the Rift, and with Yone finally becoming champion after all these years, it shouldn't come as a surprise if the item Blade of the Ruined King welcomes its rightful owner. After all, the Ruined King is the central figure of the Shadow Isles lore since he's the one who cursed this once noble region.
Riot Games already announced a new turn-based RPG called the Ruined King: A League of Legends story and the introduction of this champion would surely add to the already existing hype.
