Funcom is still innovating with Conan Exiles, which seems to be their most successful live service to date.
In The Age of War Chapter 3 update, which is scheduled for December 14, 2023, the game will receive two major features - castle assaults and taverns.
Castle assaults seem self-explanatory but here are a few details that might give you better insight into what it entails.
The Siege of Al-Merayah will feature Stygian enemies who have occupied the fortification, which can be completely destroyed, depending on how much force you apply.
To help you wreck the place, Funcom allowed the usage of battering rams, explosives, trebuchets, climbing and other creative ways to beat the enemies. Battering rams can be found in different places but the current patch notes don't specify where.
Getting in and defeating all the enemies will present the players with a fight against the force's Commander and defeating him can yield lucrative rewards. To replay the whole scenario, all the players involved will need to leave the premises so the castle state can be restored to default.
If you are more into arguably peaceful content, you will also be able to own a tavern after the update. A barkeep can be found in captivity during a Purge and freeing them will allow you to build and run a tavern.
It will be visited by various NPCs, some of whom can be hired as Thralls to help you in adventures ahead. While we don't know the details yet, it sounds like something that could be highly useful in the aforementioned castle assault.
