League of Legends Season 10 brought quite a few roster and staff changes among top teams that failed to qualify for Worlds 2020 and the latest one is regarding Cloud 9 and Bok "Reapered" Han-gyu.
Reapered started coaching Cloud 9 back in Season 6 and had quite a bit of success with the team over the course of the four years. Granted, there were periods of Team Liquid domination but C9 were consistent in each season as they continued the tradition of qualifying for World Championship each year.
At the start of Season 10, things looked bright for C9. They almost had a perfect split and it was only TSM who managed to snag one game and deny them that honour but the domination of Reapered's roster was still undisputed. Spring Split Playoffs were also highly successful since C9 dropped just one match against EG but proceeded to win that part of the competition as well.
Summer Season was not as kind to Cloud 9 as Team Liquid came out ahead on the ladder but the #2 spot on the table, coupled with previous success, was almost enough to earn C9 a spot at Worlds. All they needed to do was to win against FlyQuest in the Playoffs.
It wasn't meant to be, they lost in a convincing manner and were then knocked out of the Losers' Bracket by TSM, crushing the team's lifelong tradition of qualifying to the most prestigious tournament of the year.
This disastrous turn of events called for major changes within the team, be it the long-time coach or players themselves. As the case would have it, it was the coach who parted ways with C9.
Reapered is now open for negotiations with teams from all regions.
Interestingly enough, this happened to be the first season where Cloud 9's marksman wasn't Sneaky and it was the first time they didn't manage to qualify for Worlds.
