Ranked Play is one of the most played game modes in Modern Warfare 3. While Ranked Play was added very late into Modern Warfare 2's lifecycle, its sequel received the game mode fairly early. With the launch of Season 1 Reloaded, the game mode was added back into the game after an unavoidable delay.
While players have been grinding to climb up the ranks for the past two weeks, the arrival of Season 2 is right around the corner. Call of Duty's latest blog post shared details on how the rank progression will be reset with the launch of Season 2.
Rank Reset Explained
According to the devs, players will be dropped back one full division or three tiers down the skill division. This will be based on their season-ending rank. On the contrary, the rank reset ceiling has been set to Diamond 1 for all high-ranked players, from Iridescent to Top 250.
Here's a breakdown of how rank reset will work for each skill division:
- Bronze 1 > Bronze 1
- Silver 1 > Bronze 1
- Gold 1 > Silver 1
- Platinum 1 > Gold 1
- Diamond 1 > Platinum 1
- Crimson > Diamond 1
- Iridescent > Diamond 1
- Top 250 > Diamond 1
While mid-tier Ranks receive a fairly small rank reset, the top 3 ranks get a stricter rank reset. All Diamond Crimson, Iridiscent and Top 250 players will be returned to Diamond 1. While the first few weeks might become a sweat-fest, it will get stable with time.
If you're stressed about the rank reset, don't worry. You will have plenty of time to regain your previous rank before Season 3 launches.
